Jazz line-up for July 8-14, 2012

July 8, 2012

By Kathy Edwards McFarland and “Mister Joe” Pinson

Music and events  seemed to crowd each other on the calendar after school let out for the summer. More activities  and live music

Denton Base Tribute Big Band

than Denton (and beyond) has had in the past few years. In the know sources attribute the myriad of plays, concerts, etc., to many people taking “stay-cations” instead of venturing to far off lands.

No complaints from this writer. Top-of-the-chart events for the week – University of North Texas Jazz Winds Workshop and faculty concerts, Denton Basie Tribute Big Band at Abbey Underground, and tonight’s Evidence: The Music of Thelonius Monk at Sweetwater Grill & Tavern.
