Voter Lookup and Live Jazz to slip beyond

My bad, dear Readers, as Tuesday became Tuesday Night – and no mention of A Taste of Herb blowing great Herbage (Herb Alpert & the ATasteofHerblogoTijuana Brass) and wonderful dance music from the Sweetwater Grill & Tavern patio stage. The South Elm Street venue, opened to the cool autumn evening, hosted a large crowd of regulars, newbies and a biker club. The band, led by trumpeter John Wier, will return in November, so be forewarned.

Tonight – Wednesday, Oct. 29:

  • Joe Pat Hennen at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial, at 5 p.m. – FREE
  • Jeffry Eckels presents – for the first time at the Whitehouse in Denton, Texas, corner of Scripture and Bryan, the soulful vocal stylings of the incomparable Victor Cager!   The band is Steve Harlos on piano, Lupe Barrera on drums and Jeffry on bass.  8-10 p.m. – no cover

  • Six and Two O’Clock Lab Bands perform in the University of North Texas Gateway Center at 9 p.m. – $4

Thursday, October 30:

  • Wood and Wire at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial, at 7:30 p.m. – $10, followed by Daniel Markham with Birds of Night at 10 p.m. – $7

  • UNT Percussion Ensemble in Voertman Hall at 8 p.m. – FREE
  • Open Mic at Banter Bistro, 219 W. Oak St., at 8 p.m. (sign-up at 7:45 p.m.) – FREE

Friday, October 31: Halloween Night is alright for frightening …

  • Daniel Markham & Friends as B-52’s, Paper Robot as Nirvana, Brent Best as Roky Erickson at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial, at 10 p.m. –

  • Mariachi Quetzal performs during the dinner hour at La Milpa Mexican Restaurant, 820 S. I-35E, at 8 p.m. – no cover

Saturday, November 1:

  • Lost Poet Lounge at Banter Bistro, 219 W. Oak St., 6 p.m., followed by Singcerity at 8 p.m., Remain at 10 p.m. – ALL FREE
  • Mother Falcon at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial, at 9 p.m. – $10/13

Mother Falcon is an orchestral indie band born in Austin, Texas that has quickly become an award winning recording act and a top concert draw, performing in rock clubs while maintaining a presence in the performing arts scene scoring plays and films.

Sunday, November 2:  2 a.m. Turn your clocks back one hour – Daylight Saving Time ends.

  • Bone Doggie’s Open Mic at the Abbey Underground, 100 Walnut St., at 9 p.m. – FREE

Monday, November 3:

  • Vintage Jazz Society meets at the Patterson-Appleton Center for Visual Arts, 400 East Hickory St., 9:30 a.m. for discussion, followed by a jam session at 10:30 a.m. – FREE – everyone is welcome
  • Live Jazz at the Greenhouse Restaurant, 600 N. Locust, from 10 p.m. to midnight – no cover
  • Jazz Ambassadors (U.S. Army Field Band) perform at the Vernon Performing Arts Center (Northwest High School) in Justin at 7:30 pm –
