Jazz Fest this weekend

Yes, we are coming up on the last weekend of April, in Denton and we are going to have some fun!JFestLogo50

The 35th Annual Denton Arts & Jazz Festival this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, will host performers on seven (that’s 7!) stages, scattered through the 32-acre Quakertown Park, 321 E. McKinney, Denton, Texas – 2 blocks NE of the downtown square.

  • Saturday, April 25: Dr. John the Night Tripper, 9 p.m. – Jazz Stage
  • Sunday, April 26: Brave Combo, 7 p.m. – Jazz Stage

But not just music, tents filled with colorful artwork, crafts and apparel will line walk-ways, event areas and the Denton Civic Center. Food vendors will offer tempting foods and decadent treats.

The 12 and under set can mold, draw, sculpt and create at the Children’s Art Tent and make music in the Percussion Tent. And don’t miss the games and activities for the young and young at heart.

  • Texas Woman’s University Flute Choir and Wind Symphony in Margo Jones Performance Hall at 7:30 pm – $5 (12 & under FREE)

Wednesday, April 22:

  • Lone Star Attitude (country band) performs on the east side of the Courthouse, 101 Hickory St., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. – FREE

Monday, April 27:

  • UNT Spectrum Concert: Composer’s Forum in the Recital Hall at 8 p.m. – FREE
  • Live Jazz at the Greenhouse Restaurant, 600 N. Locust, from 10 p.m. to Midnight – FREE
  • UNT West End (vocal jazz) in Kenton Hall at 8 p.m. – FREE,
  • Guest Artist Tim Buzbee (tuba) in MU262 at 8 p.m. – FREE
  • TWU Choir Concert in Margo Jones Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. – $5 (12 & under FREE)
