Dylanfest, Raised Right Men and a lot more Denton Live Jazz

Now that University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University are on Summer break, Denton Jazz takes on a different feel. Spring into Summer, albeit wet and cool, is still a great time for festivals, outdoor performances and – yes – loads of Local Live Jazz. Don’t miss all the Memorial Day celebrations and remembrances.

Tonight, May 18 –

  • Late night Jazz featuring Devin Eddleman and Friends at the Greenhouse Restaurant, 600 N. Locust, 10:30 pm to

  • Boxcar Bandits play their signature North Texas Skungrass (Bluegrass, Country, Swing) at Mulberry Street Cantina, 110 W. Mulberry, 11 pm-?
    Texas Rex Emerson (Mandolin, Guitar, Vocals); Ryan Williams (Bass, Vocals); Brian Wright (Guitar, Vocals)Grady Don Sandlin (Percussion, Vocals); and Andy Rodgers (Banjo, Vocals) take it home with their talent and showmanship.

Tuesday, May 19 –

  • Honky Tonk is coming to Sweetwater Grill & Tavern, 115 S. Elm St., with Raised Right Men, 7-9 pm. Many of the Boxcar Bandits show up in this band. Plenty of dancin’ room on the patio.
  • Favorite Denton guest artist, award-winning Jazz bassist Eddie Gomez plays his signature style with trio members

    Steffan Karlsson on keys and Ed Soph on drums, at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial, 8 pm, $12 at the door.

Wednesday, May 20 –

  • Awesome traditional Celtic band County Rexford plays at The Abbey Inn, 101 W. Hickory St., every other Wednesday at 7:30! Come eat delicious traditional English Food and listen to great music!
  • Jeffery Eckels presents Jazz at the Whitehouse: A Vocal Showcase, the Whitehouse_Signcorner of Bryan and Scripture, featuring Rosana Eckert, with Eckels on bass, Lupe Barrera on drums, and keyboard TBA.
    The Whitehouse just started a special discount on wine for Jazz Night only! It’s $3 per glass or $10 per bottle. Come take advantage of THAT!
    And don’t forget it’s Ginny Mac every 1st Wednesday, Rosana Eckert every 3rd Wednesday and (normally) Hale Baskin every 4th Wednesday of the month! Next Wednesday, May 27th, however, is an exception and the fabulous Heather Paterson will be our featured vocalist.
  • Bonnie & Nick Norris band LIVE @ Dan’s Silver Leaf, 103 Industrial, 8:30 pm. No Cover / Tips welcomed!
    Bonnie and Nick’ band includes Bassist Nathan Phelps, and drummer Tex Bosley.
  • Sol Kitchen plays their Organic Funk at Harvest House, 331 E Hickory, 9 pm-Midnight.

Twilight Tunes tonight! A Taste of Herb – Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass Tribute Band, West side of Denton Courthouse Square lawn, if the ground has dried up … otherwise, inside at —, 6:30-8:30 pm.

Come join Audacity Brew House, 1012 Shady Shores, 3-10 pm., for a day of celebration and remembrance for our fallenAudacityBrewHouse heroes. All donations will go towards supporting the Wounded Warrior Project. A BBQ food truck will be on site from 3:30 pm.
